Converting Body to Mechanical (Difference in Labor)
* Nexsyis converts the line's dollar amount. So, if the labor type being converted has a higher or lower labor rate, the resulting labor hours will reflect accordingly. *
EXPLANATION:
Mechanics are always paid a higher pay rate than body techs (similar to frame techs). This is because the typical skill level required and also what the market allows for mechanical labor rates vs body labor rates.
So, if a line that is considered the skill level of a body tech is done (or partially done) by a mechanic, the labor hours convert to a slightly smaller number of units because the mechanical tech doing the work is being paid a higher pay rate to do the lessor task. This is how all of our customers have always handled this type of situation. The application work order conversions were specifically designed for this scenario at the request of collision repair customers.
Your only other alternative is to not convert/split the line on the work order and leave it all in body labor.
If you want to pay a mechanic to do body labor at a separate body labor pay rate, you can just split the labor allocation in the labor allocation screen for the total body labor on the repair.
Then you can allocate a flat amount of body units to the mechanical tech and he/she will then flag some body hours on their flag sheet.
