Display of Paint Materials Mixing Machine Data

Overview

If your location receives paint mixing machine data from your paint provider, Nexsyis automatically pulls actual paint costs and calculates margins based on real usage. This page explains how that data appears in Nexsyis reports and how it affects your gross profit calculations.

Setup 

1. Under Preferences:

a. Set GPAnalyzerPaintMaterialCost to "1"

b. Sales: Set up the % of sales to allocate to non-liquid 

For example, if set to 30% - 30% of Paint Materials sales on the estimate will allocate to Non-Liquid and 70% will allocate to Liquid

 

2. Cost: Set up the % distributed to non-liquid under the location Profile tab

Where to Find Mixing Machine Data

Paint materials data appears in two places in Nexsyis:

1. GP Analyzer screen — View aggregated paint costs across multiple folders
2. Folder Print screen — Print detailed paint materials cost report for a specific folder

How Paint Materials Are Categorized

When mixing machine data is enabled, paint materials split into three categories. Understanding this split is important because each category is priced differently

 

• Paint Materials - Liquid 
  • Source of cost: Actual data from your paint provider's mixing machine
  • Gross profit calculated from: Real usage costs pulled directly
  • When you see it: Locations and folders with active mixing machine data
• Paint Materials - NonLiquid
  • Source of cost: Percentage you've set up in your Location Profile settings
  • Gross profit calculated from: Expected margin % (not actual data)
  • When you see it: All locations and folders, regardless of mixing machine status
• Paint Materials (Folders without mixing machine data only)
  • Source of cost: Expected margin % from Location Profile
  • Gross profit calculated from: Expected margin % (not actual data)
  • When you see it: Folders receiving no mixing machine data

GP Analyzer Screen Details

At Location Level

When you select a date range in GP Analyzer, if mixing machine data exists, you'll see paint materials split into three lines:

• Paint Materials - NonLiquid
• Paint Materials - Liquid
• Paint Materials

To drill down: Double-click any Paint Materials line to see the GP amount for each folder within that date range.

Note: For Folders with mixing machine data, the "Paint Materials" line is an average of Paint Materials Liquid (actual cost) and Paint Materials Non-Liquid (expected GP %). For Folders without mixing machine data, this is the expected GP% set up under the Location Profile.

 

At Folder Level

When analyzing a specific folder with mixing machine data, you'll see two lines:

• Paint Materials - NonLiquid. Cost calculated using expected GP % from Location Profile
• Paint Materials - Liquid. Actual cost from mixing machine

Paint Materials Cost Report (Folder Level)

If a folder is receiving mixing machine data, a Paint Materials Cost report becomes available in the Folder Print screen under Folder Reports.

To access the report:
1. Go to Folder Print screen
2. Navigate to Folder Reports
3. Select "Paint Materials Cost"

The report will show Paint Materials costs for that Folder.

Alternative: From GP Analyzer

You can also display this report directly from the GP Analyzer screen by right-clicking on a Folder and selecting "Print Mixing Machine Data".

For folders with no mixing machine data, you will receive a message if you try to display the report. Note: you can tell which folders do not have mixing machine data because the GP% = the Expected GP% for Paint Materials.
