Time and Absence Approval Permissions Setup
The permission to approve an employee’s time and absence is determined by the Supervisor the employee is assigned to on the Employee screen (or in PayHR - Job tab).
Checking the "Is a Supervisor" box will populate the employee in the Supervisor drop-down.
When the supervisor displays the Time and Absence screens, the linkage from his operator record to his HR Master record identifies him as the supervisor and employees with him as a supervisor will be listed. The supervisor logic is tiered, so a Supervisor of a Supervisor would have permission to approve any employees under the employee they are a supervisor for.
Also, the supervisor must have "Manage Employee Time" and "Approve Absence Requests" permission. These are Transaction Permission on the operator setup screen (File/Setup/Operator):
You may elect to assign the Time and Absence review tasks to an employee other than the assigned supervisor (an example of this would be giving a CSR her shop manager's permission so she can make time corrections for employees that he is a supervisor for). Make this designation on the Operator record for the employee you would like to have performing these tasks for the assigned supervisor:
If this method is chosen, the selected Supervisor would also require "Manage Employee Time" and "Approve Employee Absence" permission.
Payroll Clerk and Pay Clerk Locs
There is a special Transaction permission "Payroll Clerk", and if you have "Approve Employee Time" and "Approve Employee Absence" permission, you can see and approve all employees for the "Pay Clerk Locs" you have permission to. This permission is usually reserved for payroll clerks because it overrides several HR/Payroll related permissions and allows the employee access to the information for all employees.
