Common EMS Issues

Below are some common issues when attempting to import EMS into Nexsyis.  If none of the solutions resolve your issue, please contact Nexsyis Support at nexsupport@nexsyis.com for assistance.

CAN'T LOCATE EMS FILES

If you get the message above, please verify that you have the proper EMS path specified in your estimating system.

If you know your path is correct, please check to confirm the EMS is not already attached to another folder using the steps in the section below "ESTIMATE ALREADY ATTACHED TO ANOTHER FOLDER."

ESTIMATE ALREADY ATTACHED TO A FOLDER

If you attempt to import your estimate file, and it is showing gray in the list, this means it is already attached to another Folder.  The other folder number will show in the "Folder" column.

If you wish to import this estimate into a different folder, it will need to be removed from the original folder first.

NO FILE FOUND ERROR WHEN IMPORTING

EMS comes in a set of about 15 files, and if one of those 15 files is missing you will get the error above.
This error means that your EMS paths are ok. However, there are a couple of possibilities that would cause one of the EMS files to go missing.

  • Export speed: When you click export from your estimating system, it has to write the EMS files to your specified Export path.  If that path is local, C:\NexEMS\Export, for example, those files will likely export a lot faster than if your export folder is a shared network folder on the shop server.  So when you export, please wait 2-3 seconds before attempting to import into Nex to allow the EMS export time to complete.
  • Third party apps interfering: In many shop EMS configurations, the users will be exporting to a common shared folder on the shop server.  In this scenario, it is not uncommon for a parts person's PC (that's utilizing some EMS upload tools like AutoPartsBridge, CollisionLink, OPSTrax, etc...) to detect when you exported to EMS and try to process the files, and in some cases will actually delete the EMS files when it is done. Then when you go to import, some or all of the files are missing and you will get the above error.

One way to determine who is intercepting the EMS files on the network is to use the Open Files section of Windows Computer Management.

When you export EMS from a PC on the network and immediately refresh the screen above, you will likely see which user's PC has grabbed the files.
The fix is usually giving the parts person their own separate paths for the parts price EMS exports to use with all of those various EMS uploading applications.

DIRECTORY DOES NOT EXIST ERROR

If you are receiving this error when attempting to import, this means that the EMS path specified in the Nexsyis settings does not exist on the PC.

In many cases it is due to an end-user not having a mapped drive to the Export folder on the shop server, or it is a new PC and the export paths haven't been created or connected yet.

Submitted Error from Nexsyis Collision (Proc:BuildEstCollectionFromDir)

This error may also be accompanied by the error description "Unspecified error"

We believe this error is caused by a bad EMS file in the export directory.
In most cases, this issue can be resolved by deleting all of the EMS files in the Export folder and re-exporting your EMS files.
